Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is a Doula?
A: A Doula is like a trusted guide for your pregnancy and birth journey. I’m here to support you emotionally, physically, and with information—helping you feel confident, comfortable, and cared for every step of the way.

Q: Do I have to be induced if there is no distress to the baby or myself?
A: Not necessarily. If you and your baby are both healthy, you can absolutely talk with your care provider about waiting for labor to start naturally. My role is to make sure you feel informed about your options so you can make the decision that feels right for you.

Q: Do I have to breastfeed?
A: Nope! Feeding your baby is about what works best for you and your little one. While breastfeeding has many benefits, I’ll support you fully whether you choose to breastfeed, pump, or formula-feed.

Q: If I get a balloon (Foley balloon), will I deliver right away?
A: Not usually. The balloon’s job is to help gently open the cervix—it’s just one step that may be part of starting labor. Everyone’s timeline is different, and I’ll be there to help you understand what’s happening and support you through

Q: Do I have to get an epidural?
A: Not at all! An epidural is completely your choice. Some people choose it for pain relief, while others prefer to labor without it. My role as your Doula is to support you either way—helping you understand what to expect, exploring comfort options, and making sure your birth plan reflects your preferences.
